The Hiring Manager is responsible for developing and implementing multiple hiring strategies including an internship program, domestic seafood processor hiring, our foreign worker program, and key staff hiring.  Creates, implements, and oversees NPSI’s internship program to encourage people to explore careers within our company.  Works with various communities and schools to educate them about NPSI and build relationships to pipeline interns into our plants.  Ensures internships are meaningful and successful for all parties.  Builds mass hire domestic recruiting strategies to ensure our plant personnel are successful in hiring high quality workers.  Develops, oversees, and manages all foreign worker programs (such as H-2B, J-1, etc.).  Creates and posts job openings.  Becomes our subject matter expert for our applicant tracking and onboarding system, iCIMS.  Focuses on programs that support high quality hires, retention, and succession planning.  Interviews, hires, onboards, and orients employees.  Handles all social media engagement for NPSI. A successful Hiring Manager models professional and ethical behavior and upholds company policies.  This position is exempt from overtime (not paid overtime) and reports to the VP, HR & Administration.   In accordance with NPSI’s duty to provide and maintain a safe workplace, we will require all employees to be fully vaccinated (including boosters) against COVID-19 effective January 1st, 2022. The HR Manager is responsible for all human resources and payroll functions for the Sitka Sound Seafoods facility.  The duties cover a wide variety of responsibilities and work tasks.  A successful HR Manager models professional and ethical behavior and upholds company policies.  Recruits, interviews, hires, onboards, and orients employees.  Performs all timekeeping and payroll processing functions.  Handles various HR functions and issues for our hourly employees.  This job develops recruiting and retention strategies to build a high return rate each season, processes payroll, and works with employees and staff to resolve HR matters.  They also ensure employment separations are handled consistent with policy and regulations.  Due to the seasonal nature of our industry, the HR Manager works approximately 12 hours per day, seven days per week during peak production seasons.  This position is exempt from overtime (not paid overtime) and reports to the VP, HR & Administration, with dotted line reporting to the Assistant Plant Manager and Office Manager.   In accordance with NPSI’s duty to provide and maintain a safe workplace, we will require all employees to be fully vaccinated (including boosters) against COVID-19 effective January 1st, 2022. The Environmental, Health & Safety (EHS) Manager is responsible for corporate oversight of all environmental compliance, health and safety programs for the company, across all locations.  Works with plant personnel to develop, implement, and maintain written programs, inspection forms and guidellines, training curricula, polices and practices to ensure compliance with all regulatory requirements (such as EPA, OSHA, AK OSH, L&I, ADEC, DOT, etc.).  Apprises leaders of changes to all regulations and practical approaches that ensure compliance.  Provides training and guidance to all levels of the organization in areas of responsibility.  Completes and submits required permits and reports.  Oversees worker's compensation claims reduction and loss control initiatives.  Visits production facilities annually to audit programs and records, train staff and conduct physical inspections of the site.  Maintains organized paper and electronic files of pertinant records.  This is an exempt position (not paid overtime) and reports to the Vice President, HR & Administration. The selected candidate may elect to work a hybrid schedule (some days from home and some from the office) or they may elect to work full time in the office.  Onsite presence is required for part of each week, and may be required more frequently as needed.   We are pleased to share that our corporate office staff is currently 100% fully vaccinated!  We take pride in keeping our employees safe and encourage all applicants who are able to do so to get vaccinated (including boosters) against COVID-19.  Effective January 1, 2022, candidates who receive a conditional job offer of employment will be required to show proof of full COVID-19 vaccination status in order to be eligible for employment with NPSI.  Requests for disability or religious exemptions will be considered on an individualized basis by Human Resources at the time of a conditional offer of employment.

Refrigeration Operator is responsible for the upkeep and repair of the facility's ammonia refrigeration systems including: tunnel freezer and blast cell freezers, and flake ice making capabilities. Reports to Chief Engineer. The Kodiak plant, known as Alaska Pacific Seafoods or APS, operates 12 months a year, with peak production during the summer months.    COVID-19 PROTOCOLS:  All candidates must be in Kodiak a minimum of 14 days to be considered for this position.  NPSI also requires PCR testing prior to working, when symptomatic or a close contact of a known or suspected positive person, and on a routine basis, as part of our workforce protection plan.  We provide paid quarantine and isolation leave for active employees.
